BSA Troop 36, Geneva, IL is sponsored by Geneva Scouting Corp and is open to all boys in the area. Troop 36 began in 1953 with 6 Scouts. Currently the Troop has 28 registered Scouts. The unit is boy led and run, while being mentored and guided by the Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmasters. That means the boys decide on activities and meetings, monthly camping destinations, including summer camp, and high adventure trips, like canoeing in the Boundary Waters, White water rafting in West Virginia, and attending Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimaron, New Mexico.
Troop 36 is active in the community, working closely with our sponsor organization Geneva Scouting Corp. We also work with Chapelstreet Church (formerly First Baptist Church of Geneva) and their annual Easter Egg Hunt, and with the Zellmer Wellness Foundation, an organization dedicated to helping eradicate childhood diseases. The Troop meets on Thursday evenings at 7 PM at Chapelstreet Church on SouthSt. in Geneva.
The last Thursday of the month is Patrol Meeting Night, when each Patrol gathers together at a chosen location to plan for an upcoming campout, play board games, work on scout skills for advancement, or whatever the patrol chooses. It is something unique to the Troop that patrol members get together outside the confines of the Troop meeting and meet.
